About Rented Local

Rented Local is a peer-to-peer gear  rental marketplace that connects neighbours across British Columbia — and soon, across Canada — so they can borrow and lend the equipment they already own. From  cameras and drones to kayaks, camping gear, ski equipment, and event supplies, our community turns idle gear into earning gear.

We built Rented Local for two kinds of people. Renters get affordable access to the gear they need for a weekend trip, a film shoot, or a backyard wedding — without buying equipment they'll only use once. Owners earn income from the items sitting in their garage, shed, or storage locker while helping someone in their community get outside, create, and explore.

The platform is also home to Find Crew, a hiring board for local photographers, videographers, tradespeople, and guides, plus invoicing, waiver, and insurance tools that make renting and running a small gear business simple and safe.

Rented Local is built and operated by a small, local team based in British Columbia. We believe in trust, community, and sustainability: every rental keeps useful equipment in circulation, reduces unnecessary consumption, and strengthens the connection between neighbours.

Our mission is simple: we all have something our neighbour needs.
