Whistler is one of the best family ski destinations in Canada, with gentle terrain, ski schools and plenty to do off the hill.
Learning areas
The Magic Chair and Olive areas offer slow lifts and wide, gentle slopes designed for new skiers and riders. Kids can build confidence in a safe environment before moving up.
Lessons
Group and private lessons for children are available for various ages. Book early for peak weeks. A full-day program is often the easiest way to introduce kids to the mountain while you ski your own runs.
Gear for kids
Kids grow fast, so renting is far more practical than buying. A full kids package should include skis or a board, boots, poles and a helmet. Make sure boots fit snugly but comfortably and that helmets are properly sized.
Dressing kids for the hill
- Base layers, mid layers and a waterproof shell.
- Warm socks and waterproof mittens.
- Neck warmers and goggles.
- A spare set of gloves for wet days.
Off-hill fun
- Ice skating in the Village.
- Tubing at Blackcomb.
- Swimming at Meadow Park Sports Centre.
- Hot chocolate stops around the village.
