Whistler Blackcomb is one of the biggest ski resorts in North America, so the hardest part of any trip is choosing where to ski. Here are twelve runs worth building a day around, grouped by ability.
Beginner-friendly favourites
- Magic Chair area (Whistler): gentle, uncrowded slopes to find your legs.
- Lower Olympic and Green runs: long, wide and forgiving once you have a few turns down.
- Blackcomb's Easy Does It and Lower Cruiser area: a calm way to stretch your first full laps.
Intermediate classics
- Ridge Runner and Harmony Ridge runs: big views, big fall lines and perfect corduroy on a bluebird morning.
- Jersey Cream and Symphony Bowl: open alpine terrain with some of the most scenic turns on Whistler Mountain.
- Blackcomb's 7th Heaven groomers: reliable snow and long cruisers on sunny days.
Advanced and expert picks
- Dave Murray Downhill: a steep, fast Olympic course from the top of Whistler.
- Peak to Creek: more than 1,500 metres of vertical from the Peak to Creekside, a bucket-list run when conditions allow.
- Couloir Extreme and Spanky's Ladder (Blackcomb): serious terrain for confident skiers only. Check conditions and ski with a partner.
- Flute and Oboe Bowls: sidecountry-style terrain on Whistler, open depending on snow and avalanche conditions.
Tips before you drop in
Run status, grooming and lift schedules change daily, so check the resort's trail report each morning. Ski within your ability on every run, and never duck ropes or closures.
No room for skis in your luggage?
Fly in light and pick up a full setup locally. A good all-mountain ski or snowboard with boots and a helmet usually runs about $35 to $90 a day from local owners.
